Akita Japanese Language Institute was founded as a Japanese language education institution of Ito Gakuen, an education corporation located in Akita Prefecture. Together with the historic Ito Gakuen Information Business College and Social Welfare College, Akita Japanese Language Institute provides Japanese language education to international students and supports their futures.
In addition, we have a men's dormitory and a women's dormitory within walking distance so that international students can live in Japan with peace of mind, and we have created an environment where students can concentrate on their studies at ease through our dormitory life guidance and support. With our academic and lifestyle support, students can focus on their studies and advance toward their goals.
In addition to teaching Japanese that comes in handy when studying abroad, we also provide guidance on the Japanese skills necessary for students to achieve their goals, such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and preparation for going on to higher education.
We provide guidance and support on Japanese customs and manners to students throughout their dormitory life, so that they can adapt to life in Japan.
Students will deepen their understanding of Japan through events, off-campus learning, and a joint school festival with our attached college, interacting with Japanese students and locals.
We support students' career development by providing assistance through career guidance and counseling, personal statement instruction, and interview preparation to help students realize the career path they have chosen.

History of Ito Gakuen
In 1943, educational corporation Ito Gakuen established its private Akita Clothing Restoration Practical Research Institute in Akita City under the three principles of "creation, etiquette, and cheerfulness" as the basis of education. In 1951, it became the first institution in Akita Prefecture (competent authority: Governor of Akita Prefecture) to be recognized as an educational corporation.
It has played an active role in the fields of fashion education, early childhood education, information education, and welfare education for approximately 70 years.
The number of graduates from educational corporation Ito Gakuen exceeds 22,000, and they are widely active in various fields such as fashion, information business, and medical welfare.
Students are currently studying at both Akita Information Business College, which focuses on IT and business, and Akita Social Welfare College, which trains welfare professionals.
Akita Japanese Language Institute provides high-quality Japanese language education centered on the following three ideas.
- Realization of the careers that students aim for
- Japanese education that is useful in social life
- Fostering of human resources who can understand different cultures and play an active role globally
We will provide guidance and support to students so that they can learn various things through their study abroad life and apply it to their future career by giving them an opportunity to experiencing Japanese culture through extracurricular activities in addition to class activities at school and interaction with Japanese people.
There are commercial facilities such as department stores and restaurants, and cultural facilities including libraries and museums around the school, providing a rich living and learning environment.
In addition, since Akita City is close to the sea and mountains, you can live in a land rich in nature while experiencing the four seasons and the richness of nature along with the convenience of the city.
